Hendrick Herkimer is Jon & Joe Whitney and Cheri Wolff's gggggggreat grandfather and fought in the Revolutionary War. He is the brother of Gen Nicholas Herkimer, who was fatally wounded at the Battle of Oriskany. Exeter, Oswego County, is near Richfield Springs, NY. This homestead should not be confused with the Herkimer Homestead, home of Nicholas Herkimer, near Little Falls, NY in Herkimer County.
The Exeter Herkimer homestead's kitchen building, including woodshed, has been moved to the Farmers' Museum in Cooperstown, NY. It was seen by Deanna LaMalfa and her grandparents, Jon & Nina Whitney, there in the Summer of 2010(?).
