In this 1960 picture of JFK on the campaign trail, the Home Service Co. is hidden by the "The Best Garage, We Never Close". The two buildings butted up against each other. The staying open until midnight seven days a week and the never closing actions started in the 1940s when the Remington Arms Co. down Main Street was running shifts long into the night to keep up with the World War II effort. In the 1950s , the entirely separate Remington Rand-Univac (computer) Corp. across the street from "The Arms" was running full force and had a 24 hour training school to keep up with the demand for technicians to work on the new fangled computing machines. Alex Reardon owned the Best Garage and across Main Street, the Best Hardware Store and the Best Furniture Store. Thanks to Amy C. for the picture.
